Several years ago I purchused a cone and voice coil repair kit from a supplier I found in Sydney for my old AWA 55E. Now I cannot find them!
Does anyone know if you can still obtain parts for old radio speakers?
Seems to be plenty of HiFi speaker suppliers but not for 5" cones and coils.
Thanks,
Gary

Electronix dot com have a small supply of replacement cones which would be ok if the coil is still functioning.
They list one at 4 1/2 inch, but I have used it in a 5 inch speaker very successfully.

Thanks very much Harold.
As the cones are very cheap I have bought an assortment.
I also notice they have conductive grease which would be good for referbished tuning capacitors.
Cheers,
Gary

They only way I can get $40 worth of speaker parts from Electronix dot com is they will only send UPS with a postage of $140. They will not send through the post office!

I recall I had the same problem, but I am sure they came to the party and posted them at a much lower rate.
If you haven't already, email them with the problem and see what they can do.

I have an excel spreadsheet I came across some time ago.
It has the calculations needed for re-coning speakers.
Anyone interested email me off line and I will pass it on.
Unfortunately I cant remember the source to give credit to.

Given up on Electonix, it their way or not at all with the shipping!
I have emailed Loadspeakercomponents, no reply as yet.
I'll try the Totalrecoil mob but will have to phone them as they dont have an email on their Website.

Ask Brad for the details of a Gentleman I use in Melbourne that does all my speaker repairs.
Not cheap but well worth it if you want to keep the original speaker.
Happy New Year to all

Managed to get spare cones through Electronix, in the land of the free. Had to get them shipped to a Mate in TX and he will post to me.

Good to hear that you found a solution.
Out of interest, in your search did you happen to contact Total Recoil?

How far could you go to save a speaker?
When you put a new part in an old radio,
then look in the radio, your eyes are directed straight to the new part.
What if it's an electrodynamic speaker and the field coil is open?
That's a lot of winding!
New question, if a speaker cone was ok, but was eaten by
those dirt nest building insects, what is the glue used to patch it up?

This guy uses coffee filter paper and Aleene's Original Tacky Glue (available in Oz in craft and stamp collector shops) to restore a rare speaker for which a re-cone is not an option.
