Despite having much to get done today I did take some time out to visit a fairly local antique shop to see if I could buy a light shade for a table lamp base I recently acquired from Ebay.

Whilst I was there I asked the landlord if she had any old radios and sure enough, there were two, the first a Kriesler 11-7 which I already have one of, and the other an ivory STC table radio, of a similar size to an 11-7.

At $155.00 I just had to have the STC, pictured below.

I've never seen one of these in any other colour but brown. Would anyone know if this white one is considered rare? Either way, it'll be restored at some time in the near future and may feature in a restoration article to be published here once the work is done.

The radio seems to be in good condition. The only flaws I can see at the moment is a 10mm hairline crack on the back, which is stable, and some crazing that coloured Bakelite is known for. Once restored, neither of these issues should detract from the look or value of the receiver.

Last and only one of those I have serviced was immaculate & very very deep brown.

Actually that is Catalin and is more prone to thermal effects, although it is better than some of the latter plastics, that once they lost the plasticizer, cracked.

IIRC I've seen that model, if not that colour, come up on eBay once or twice over the last year or so.

What's the model number?

(I guess STC830 will chime in with that detail.)

It says A527 on the bottom panel but all web references to that point at a timber model. Perhaps there was a timber version with the same chassis?

I've only seen this in brown before which makes me wonder how many other colours and how many of each one were made.
