I might find a record player hopefully for free that is working

Your 2CH sounds a lot like our Magic 1278. Perfect for listening to on valve radio's.

Bob Rogers must be getting on in years. Didn't he hang out with the Beatles when they were here in '64?

Yep, 86 this year and still going strong. I've heard rumours he's the world's oldest radio announcer still in the job - quite an honour if it is true.

He's worked for 3XY, 4BH, 7HO, 2UE, 2SM and 2CH.

I want Buddy Holly to be played on the radio frequently so younger people can get into his music

Brad, would you kindly fix my 'vinly' typo in the thread subject index. I fixed it in my post but I see that didn't flow onto the index. Thanks.

Also, for 2CH and similar playlist material you should look for "Best of ..." type albums (e.g. Best of the Sixties").

I'll have to do that manually on the database but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. The form on the edit page never extended to the table that shows titles.

UPDATE: Okay, slight change of mind here. I've changed the edit function across all forums to operate a new way and this has forced me to reacquaint myself with ASP coding as I've fallen out of practice in the last few years.

From tonight onwards the ability to edit a thread's subject heading can only be done by the original poster and any member with the rank of senior moderator or higher. All members with write privileges will still be able to edit their own comments of course.

Editing of subjects now works both at the top of the thread page and in the list of threads. Smile

I play my vinyl records every day when in my workshop on my HMV Nippergram. I have a few hundred 33rpm vinyls and around 400 older 78rpm recordings.
I love them all, just call me old fashioned Smile
Peter

What brand of Cutting Lathe does Zenith have?
Why does their website trigger AVG block?

I don't know why the Zenith site is now triggering a malware alert. It was okay when I looked at it last night, so something has happened in the last 24 hours -- maybe it's been hacked by idiots after the article was published?

I'll call them in the morning to report it -- in case they are not already aware of it.

As for manufacturing machinery, the Wiki says this:

"Zenith has three Alpha-Toolex record presses in operation, a Neumann Record Cutting lathe, as well as its own record matrix-making facilities. Plating of the record masters is done in-house, as well as the production of mothers, stampers, or converts."

I saw mention of their equipment on their site last night but didn't take particular note of it, so the above Wiki stuff may be out of date or inaccurate.

Well, the only phone number I could find is no longer connected. I managed to find an email address so I've sent them a message about their site problems.

Meanwhile here's a 2102 article on Zenith from The Age newspaper:

Ah, a Neumann, the Bugatti of record lathes!

One must ponder the dichotomy of the audiophile listening with single-ended/zero negative-feedback amplifier to vinyl record recorded with push-pull amplifier using not only local feedback but electro-mechanical (motional) feedback from the lathe cutter.
