I've recently brought this at a clearing sale. Very nicely built and a label with early Australian stations and corresponding dial settings. I have the 'baby rother / sister' of this set, with one less valve and slightly smaller. They both came from the Western District of Victoria. The smaller one I've had for more than 20 years and unfortunately has been messed with and is no longer in original condition. But both are obviously professionally made - although no maker's label.
I have uploaded pictures here:

Any information welcome.

The label on the back says "Made in Australia by United Distributors" and gives a USA patent number which you could try looking up for the original designer who licensed it to United Distributors (whoever they were back then).

A quick Trove search shows United Distributors active in electronics trade in the 1920s, but in liquidation by 1931.
One brand comes up against their products - "Udisco" .

I'm sure you could find more by trawling Trove for advertisements in Melbourne or Geelong newspapers for 1920-25 or so.

Here's an example advertising "radios for everyone", giving a shop address for United Distributors at 295 Little Collins St

Thanks Maven,

The photo with the Udisco label is just that - I picked it up at the same auction, but it is not the radio in the main picture - they are 2 different radios. I've got some info on the Udisco as I have 3 others, but this one has been modified at soem stage - It looks like it had two tunning gangs that were coupled together (typical TRF), but they were removed and the circuit changed to a regenerative set? I will trace out the circuit one day!

But the radio in the first shot is the one I cannot identify.
