Can anyone tell me if the 807 valve is a common radio valve? I have 27 of these and guess I need to know how many I actually keep when workshop space is limited. Most 100% some NOS.

The 807 was designed as a transmitting valve common during WWII. After the war with tons of war surplus stock available it was found that they made reasonable output valves in audio output applications, comparable to a 6L6. I know at least one HMV radiogram that uses a single-ended 807 for a output valve. I'm not sure of which model, but you'll find it in one of the AORSM's. Also, Radio Televisions & Hobbies has a design for a audio amplifier, using a pair of 807's in push-pull. Again, not sure which issue, but can try and find it for you if you like.

Cheers.

According to Radio Museum it was only used in about 7 Australian radios, one of them military. It might not be so common unless it's equivalent to something else. How'd you end up with 27 of them?

Cheers,

Warren

My Dad was a hoarder of everything radio, he was probably given them or bought them in a job lot somewhere. Four are NOS in boxes, one complete with all the spec sheets, the rest are loose.

Well I have finally gone through my father's valve stock and the total is 2629 valves that I have databased.
