I was at the dump with my carers Glen and Julie, and we were looking through the electronics bin, and I saw a Commodore Video Monitor model 1901! It works and everything! the power switch was stuck but I got it unstuck so now I can use it with my Commodore 64! Now I have a real Commodore video monitor! If you're wondering, this is the model I have, not my picture but it is the monitor i've got, it is in a bit of a near mint state but the control door is missing, I do not know why some old people threw this monitor away! I love it to bits, I am going to repaint it brown and reprint the Commodore label for it and make a control door for it and use it as my primary Commodore monitor before I get my 1702 out of the trash.

Nathan, with vintage computer gear finds like that, it is a better idea to try cleaning the cabinet to preserve the original look, rather than painting it.

You can get most bad stains, black marks and glue traces from old labels off with a rag moistened with turpentine.

Then you can use a spray-bottle of the kind of "Oxy" cleaner that is used for clothes, and scrub the whole surface with a damp sponge. Then again with the sponge just dampened with clean water.

Of course you should be careful not to let ANY moisture drip inside the monitor.

Finally, clean the screen with a window cleaner or methylated spirits, using paper towels.

You might be surprised how well it can scrub up.

Well my Commodore 64 is a brown Breadbin model because the monitor it originally coupled with was a Commodore 1702, I want a 1702 but this 1901 will do for music purposes

Nathan, Maven is right. It would be best to keep the monitor in its original colour. User painted electronic equipment generally looks terrible, and it's hard to get it looking 'real'.

And you may be able to do a swap with someone who wants the colour that you have.

Yeah, I don't think I am going to find a 1702 any time soon, this 1901 will do for some time, with my 64 it works great.
