Hi all,

Are there vintage wireless collecting (radio, television, military equipment etc.) swap-meets or outings in Australia? The closest club I know if is the Oxley Region Amateur Radio Club, who occasionally meet up at a collectors house, though I don't think they hold swap-meets..?

Many hobbies (such as bottle and insulator collecting) have clubs, meetings and annual/quarterly get-togethers/swap-meets. These are great for meeting up with other collectors; buying, selling and trading; and for sharing advice and stories.

I know that in many other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States of America, have clubs, meetings and swap-meets. It would be great to attend a vintage wireless equipment swap-meet, though I'm not aware of any in Australia at the moment.

Thanks,

Chris

Swap meets are held by the sub-groups of the several vintage radio clubs in Australia and are more often being run with their regular meetings rather than as a stand-alone event. They are seldom held outside these arenas due to the organisation involved and the other issues that exist such as venue hire, payment of fees for security, public liability insurance, etc.

There is the Wyong swap meet in Jan/Feb? every year. More tailored to amateur radio.
You really need to be there very early for the good stuff.

I think there's a branch of the HRSA near your way Chris

Redxm, there is the Oxley Region Amateur Radio Club, which is based in town (well, in Port Macquarie which is 20 minutes away)

Ham radio people have "hamfests", usually twice a year in most midsized American cities, and I'd expect Aussie hams also have them. Hamfests will have electronic parts usable for antique radios, but maybe only a couple of vendors will have antique radios.
