Going through the Mystery Chassis, I have found a few things. It is very close to an 8 valve Air Master circuit that Kent emailed me which is very helpful, I will draw up the circuit when I go through it all.
Firstly the push-pull input transformer has an open circuit secondary winding, what is the best way around this? do I look for one !! or are they available. How do I work out the windings, the primary is 8.3Kohms with earthed centre tap.
As I go through the circuit and measuring the old components, I found something to watch out for in these old late 1920's chassis or I guess any old chassis. On two earth connections there is an earth differential reading of 50 ohms between one earth and another. Looks like the best thing to do is to undo all the earth screws and grind under each nut and screw to obtain a nice clean connection. The three main 8μF electros also screw to the chassis, the large thread is part of the cap body. These are leaking so I will use the old aluminium cases and re-cap them inside the old cases.
The valve sequence looks like it will be:
80, 45, 45, 27, 24A, 24A & 24A
I have all the valves except for the 45's if anyone has them for sale please contact me.
The link below is to my Flickr photos showing the transformer marked.

How much of your circuit is similar to the Air Master 8?
Do you mean the transformer between the plate of the 27 to the grids of the 45 is open circuit? I'm not familiar with this set-up in audio output. So I cant help with specs. Maybe doing a search on similar types of output circuits may reveal something. I will also keep a lookout. A while back a fellow member here described re-winding a push-pull speaker transformer for a Pye Black Box. Maybe a rewind is an option.
What condition is the main speaker transformer in?
Cheers.

This would be the audio push pull phase splitter transformer as used in the early to mid 1930s.
These are often found open circuit on one of the secondary sides because of many turns of fine wire necessary to achieve Hi Z dual phase grid drives.
I bought a 1930 AIRLINE radio only to find a faulty driver x/former.
Since then I have bought 3 more chassis at swapmeet auction for next to nothing (have not checked these x/formers yet) see pict link http://s1273.photobucket.com/user/NewVista1/media/1930sRadios....
Buying driver transformers is expensive as high end audio want them for designs that emulate the holy grail of collectable audiophile amplifiers, the Western Electric 1086 - P/P 300B (1936).
