I recently acquired this radio from a salvage yard with the intention of using it for parts, but I got a little curious as to wether or not it would still work even in this poor condition, after a recap VOILA!, it came back to life! , it had been laying face down under a tree for at least 10 or even 20 years!, apart from the rot & chassis rust, dirt & damage from the elements, After first checking the Power transformer, Audio TX & Inductors, & after a major clean, this works quite well with just a recap, I have an AWA PA speaker as the replacement, as the original speaker has no cone left Sad the PA speaker is from the same Era and just so happens to be the same impedance as the original speaker!

Two things: Sounds like an oscillating IF amplifier (that varying whistling when tuning in a station), maybe there's a missing shield? Or missing or wrong size decoupling cap on the AVC line or B+? Sometimes lead dress can do it.

And don't move the camera so much, some of us can get seasick from excessive random camera movement. Sad

For a moment I was thinking that the camera was mounted on a headband. It probably should be on a tripod though the subject is interesting.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I use a bulky HD Camcorder, still getting used using it, I used to use a standard camera for video, but the quality just isn't as good, I do have a tripod, which I had made from a Gas bottle cut in half, I'm thinking the heterodyning could also be a bad resistor, the problem seems intermittent, whenever I tap the IF can, Maybe the Simplex brand SM caps inside this may have gone bad Sad
