I have an old Gulbranson Mantle Radio. It's in pretty bad shape. The plywood case has severe water damage but a replica cabinet can be built without too much trouble. From the info on this website I guess of the radio was made in the fifties. The frame and most of the components have some rust, some worse than others. The dial glass is O.K. and I have the original bakerlite knobs. The Licence transfer quotes the number #200806, and the frame has stamped on it, 2546051. Is there anyone who can tell me if it's worth restoration, and if so, who could do it.

Regards
Woofusau

G'day woofusau,

You would be doing well to find someone that will build you a complete new cabinet but it certainly isn't impossible. If you know someone that is a cabinetmaker by trade I would say that this may be your best shot however.

Rust on the chassis and coil cans is not uncommon although this alone won't stop the set working. The Services Directory has the details of many people and businesses that carry out various restoration tasks. One of them may be close to where you live.
