Might have done, but in recent times I don't recall an "Empire State" going for more than this on eBay.

eBay item number: 230828740753.

They can and often do. I've seen the white marbled sets go for upto $8,000.00. Once a soapy jade Radiolette went for $21,000.00 in a successful sale. I don't remember whether it was an Empire or Fret and Foot but it was in mint condition and the last minute bidding war was huge.

1930's Radiolettes, particularly in the rarer white marble and green will more often than not attract a price that makes them good investment opportunities.

Were those sales on eBay or at auction houses?

All Ebay sales.

There have been previous discussions on the green Radiolette and I am fairly sure I posted some info about that particular sale here at the time it happened though I cannot seem to find it at the moment.

UPDATE: I have just discovered that I spoke about the sale of a green Radiolette fetching $21,000 on another site I used to run. Sadly, Ebay does not archive auctions that ended more than three months ago so there's no way to see the listing results. I wrote the article on Friday, 16th March, 2007.
