Have any members bought from the Radio Attic? How did you find it?

I haven't bought from there. Most of my radio purchases in the last couple of years have been by way of private sales offline though I still patrol Ebay for a good bargain now and then.

Beware Radio Attic-- ! very scammy mom's apple pie and lots of dodgy sets) not good i bought 3 sets in 2009 - what arrived not even remotely same as in pics it was rusted out crap - not nice !

A few good sellers on there, but basically they are a minority - sets overpriced))) not always as stated, maybe 6 from 10 are, but you got to want them too !

Some real nice stuff over there -----------some real uglies as well!

There are ''Radio men '' and there are just the guys their for a quid = Radio sellers ---------that don't mean they know anything about what they are selling! Radio men & Radio sellers = 2 different worlds !

To find real good original stuff even in USA thats not been got at or bastardised by backyard philistines - well its getting to the point, I think you would have more chance of finding a ''Prostitute in a Church''' than an original Air King Tombstone original, and on the cheap!

Well said Steve, the Radio Attic allows no feedback to be posted and doesn't offer returns on damaged or not as described sets.

Most collectors will have a fair idea of what the truly collectable radios around the world are. The Internet has made that task very easy. Newer collectors should take in what the more experienced ones are buying and what they are prepared to pay for what they buy.

In Australia the 30's AWA Radiolettes, Astor Mickey Mouses, Croydens, Essanays and Airzone Symphony Leaders usually get the big money. In the US it is Atwater Kent breadboards, Majestic consoles and coloured Fadas, Motorolas and Emersons along with the previously mentioned Airkings. In Great Britain it'd be the round Ekcos and the Bush AC91. Any of the above radios going cheap are either not working, smashed, butchered, incomplete, a replica or stolen.
