I was leafing through an old electronics book and came upon this parts bag in it:

The prices at Radio House were always higher than elsewhere (such as George Brown or Radio Despatch) for run of the mill electronic parts, but RH stocked an esoteric and older range of parts and if you needed a particular lamp bezel or fan switch you could usually rely on RH to have it.

Their windows were always crammed full of interesting consumer type bits and pieces and I think they made most of their money from passing trade, who associated radios with Radio House.

I once started a field trip around Sydney and the inner suburbs researching where all the radio factories and retail outlets were. It's hard to believe how many shops sold radios or radio parts in those days and harder to believe how many factories were devoted to the task of making them.

One day I will finish and publish that report.
