Hi I have a AWA Radiola, Model 9106? can anyone tell me any thing about it, it used to work when my husband first got it but little hands over turned a couple of the knobs and now it wont tune in, I havent pluged it in for a couple of yrs and am to afraid to where we live as the power can be a bit funny and surgers. it was restored on the outside but every thing on the inside looks original.
It is really big and the closest one that I can liken it to is a fisk but it doesnt look like that its shorter and wider and has 3 knobs on the front, Tone, Switch and volume. and a little blue dot like think that has AWA in the middle and The awa radiola around the outside. it has a large speker at the front with three rails that run across it at the top.

Yes, do not power it up until it has been checked over as some components may have gone bad in the interim and powering up may cause irreparable damage to unobtainable parts.
The knobs may simply need re-fitting and re-tightening.
I don't have any information on a model 9106. It would help if you could list the code numbers on the valves in it. There may be a valve layout guide stuck to the chassis, otherwise you may have to pull the valves out one at a time to read the numbers on the glass.
If you do have to pull any valves, be careful to pull them by their bases, not by the glass envelopes.
If any of the valves have top caps (i.e. there is a wire coming from the tip of the valve), then they need to be removed with great care so as not to break the metal contact away from the glass.

Thank you for that, All the valves seem to have metal cases over them so I cant see any glass, there is a little map thingy on the inside but I really dont inderstand it, is there some way to post a couple of pis so you could see it?
I also think some of the strings have been snaped thats why it wont tune, I can see in the back when I move the knobs nothing happens but if a manually turn the metal wheel it will move the rods that are under the glass
Thanks

The valve type should be on each metal case, however the "map" you describe sounds like it may be a valve layout.
Brad, the site owner, has promised to provide a tutorial on how to post images ...

... or simply tell us what is written on it.
A broken or displaced dial string is a fairly common problem with old radios and can usually be fixed.

Advice on what to do with photos was made available over the weekend but only on the form to start a new thread. It seems pertinent to duplicate that on 'quick reply'.
I'll sort this out tonight.

In that case, upload your photos to a hosting site like Photobucket and then post the links here.

I wasn't on the Net for long last night. I will check my mail before bed tonight. I am on the bus heading home from work at the moment.

G'day Shayann,
The e-mail system is working and I don't have limits set on the size of e-mails received. Perhaps you may need to send two e-mails, especially if you are using a webmail service. Most of them place limits on the total size of messages including attachments.
Try sending one to start with and I will reply if it is received. We can go from there.
