I am having issues with the valve line up..... I don't believe 6J8 was released in 1933 ..... and a Pentagrid & Triode hexode? Some sets did have more than one pentagrid..

That is something that has to be sorted out at some stage. When ROTW was rolled out the valve lineup was based on what was inside the radio instead of what should be there. At the time there was no way for me to verify the accuracy. Once I finish the web project I am currently working on I'll try and sort out any inaccuracies.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Interesting.....For what it's worth If it's reflexed I would expect 6G8 or 6B8. Someone may have the circuit?

I have a reflex chassis here to fix(?) & I doubt any valve in it belongs, it's been got at & the circuit is an abomination.

Whatever the valve line up is (or should be), it's an extremely nice looking set!

Marc Steve here the 6j8g and 6a8g series octals mostly first used in Australia during 1935 onwards, as Astor used them very early with the model 55 ''Ironclad'' .

Also Airzone used them very early in the piece with the model 511 tombstone , although that was sold all through 1936 it was designed in 1935 - there appears to be virtually no use of octal valves in our sets prior to 1935 and I think that was the very earliest.

Even then, through until 1941 heaps of makers put out sets with 1/2 octal & 1/2 pre - octal ----------basically they used what they had on hand , there was no set Stop for pre - octal , and no set date take over of octal valves.

If it was in ready supply, and had proved its worth - they used it ! why not huh !

take care

steve
