Thought it would be fun to have an amusing eBay items thread. I'll kick off with this ...

Here we have a "VINTAGE ASTOR HAND HELD RADIO - VERY OLD TRANSISTOR RADIO WITH VALVES"

eBay Item number: 180824818649

For the record it looks to be a model PS of 1952. Valve line-up 1T4, 1R5, 1T4, 1S5, 3V4. (That line-up is also shared with models GP/GPP of 1949-1951)

I'm still scrutinizing the schematic for the transistors. Smile

Some people 'keyword stuff' titles and descriptions on Ebay listings so their auction appears in more than one category. I think on this occasion there is simply a conflict in nomenclature.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

If I had to guess, I'd say in this case the seller associates the word "transistor" with "portable".

I contacted him, he knows nothing about radios at all, he sells CD's etc. Seeing it had valves and is a battery portable, he thought it was a (valve) transisitor radio, I think also not really knowing what a transistor radio is either, DUH.
