Hi All,

I picked up the above radiogram recently and wondered if anyone could provide any information about it. Suttons I think were a retailer some years back, but as for them being a brand name, I have no idea.

Cheers
Scott

There was a Suttons in George St, Sydney in the 40's and possibly 50s. They sold pianos and electrical goods, so that may be them?

Let us know the valve line up so we can try to identify the manufacturer of the chassis.

Hi there, thanks.

The valve line up (L - R) looking from the rear is:
ECH33, EBF35, 6SJ7, 6V6GT, 5Y3GT

Cheers
Scott

I couldn't find an exact match, however if I substitute ECH35 for ECH33 (I gather the former valve quickly replaced the latter), then the best candidate appears to be Electrosound model 534Q of c1951/2, which is a multi band radiogram chassis.

"Electrosound Pty Ltd., Sydney, manufactured radios and radiograms, later specialising in large and elaborate radiograms. Their showrooms were at 422-424 Kent Street Sydney."

So, the Suttons may be a re-badged Electrosound?

... although yours may be earlier than 1951/2.

Can you see a serial number anywhere on the chassis? And if there is an ARTS&P sticker on it, what is the colour of the sticker and colour of the printing, and what is the alphabetic prefix of the serial number on that sticker?

Suttons used to put their brand name on lots of things they sold so as mentioned it is most likely a chassis made by a known manufacturer.

There is no ARTS&P sticker on it. The only serial number is 37492.
Cheers

If you "unhide" your email address in your profile I can email you a schematic for the Electrosound 534Q which is applicable to serial numbers from 11261 onwards.

It would be good if you can let us know if it matches the underside of your set's chassis.

Scott reports that I struck out with the Electrosound 534Q. I'll keep searching. Meantime, if anybody else has some candidates ...
