I need to track down some approximate dates for some radios that have come my way while cleaning out someone's house.

I don't have pics of them yet, still working on getting the digi cam to work (Hee hee)

What I've been able to pull off the back of them however...

Radio #1: Kriesler Multi-sonic stereo. Stereo 6. 11-98A is on the back with a schematic of the electronics inside. Also attached on the back is a number - 28890. The cabinet for it was made by Kriesler-Dawson PTY LTD. Also has a record player inside it. Electric, in full working order. THe previous owner was still listening to it 6 months ago, before he was put into a home. His son was throwing it to the tip. *shakes head* Dad informs me that it is a Bakerlite cabinet valve radio but didn't want to give me a guess as to general decade. It's a Floor model

Radio #2: Kriesler multi-sonic stereo Hi-Fi. Numbers on the back on the schematics say 11-102 or 11-103 wasn't very specific past that. The other "Number" on the is 4I034. Also has a record player in it and is in full working order. Was in another room of the same house the last one was in. Cabinet by Blanford & West PTY LTD. Floor model.

Radio #3: Philips valve shortwave radio Model 113B. Original cord and plug, also works, the case needs some restoration though, it looks like it was dropped at some point. Isn't plastic though. the number 4305 appears on a metal bit inside the radio on the back, the back has a cutout over it. This one is a mantle radio from the size of it though.

Any help - even a "We can't help you'd need to go somewhere else" with a general idea of where else to go to look/ask would be GREATLY appreciated.

These things are in beautiful condition, I just couldn't let them be tossed to the tip.

Much thanks,
Dani

Dear Dani,

This is a guess but both Kriesler models seem to be made in the 1960's. Not much stereo gear was made before then. My other guess is that these receivers are low profile and about 1.5m long, which was fairly typical for the style at the time. Whilst Kriesler made very good equipment, receivers of this size, including that made by AWA, HMV and Philips, don't attract very big prices because people generally don't have anywhere to store them.

The Philips set could be around 1948, though once again, my current sources can't confirm it. The set should offer the AM band as well as SW. The four digit number you see stamped on the chassis is the serial number. If the cabinet on the Philips is either in good nick or can be easily repaired then it could fetch $200.00 or slightly more.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
