Hi there I picked up an airzone console radio a while back (was so gorgeous I couldnt say no), and ive just started researching what model it is and trying to identify date of manufacture. after scouring the internet with every keyword I could think of I'm at a loss so any help would be appreciated.

the chassis has two numbers on it so far as I can tell one is 0554 I'm guessing a model code? and the chassis code is 610 (this is on a small plaque rivetted to chassis) it has 6 tubes. on the front is 3 bakerlite knobs and the tuner read out is and indented metal square.

if that is not enough info let me know. if u need pics let me know cheers Bede

May be an idea to list valves used. in it. Does not appear in AORSM's at a quick glance

When seeking to identify a radio it helps enormously if you can list the valves for us, and pics are a bonus.

Assuming the 610 chassis reference is correct, then the valves present in your set ought to be:

2 x 6UG7, 6A8G, 6G8G, 6V6G, 5Y3 plus 6E6 magic eye.

If so, then it is possibly model 676 or 679 of 1939, which is a dual wave mains-powered console.

If that's the case, then I have the circuit schematic.

(Edit: added model 679, also see note below about magic eye.)

According to Mingays the schematic is in the 1941 AORSM on page 27

There is a reference on page 27 AORSM to 610E being the one with the magic eye.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
