WES components was where I aquired my last lot. Quite strong, no issues with it.

Do be aware that the old Nylon (or whatever) type string of the fifties, goes hard and that stops it driving. This is exacerbated by getting solvent cleaner on it.

The best way for the inexperienced to avoid voltage is to keep fingers out of the pan while its plugged, in or turned on.

If the Radio section is clear & undistorted right through to the speaker. Then the distortion virtually has to be related to the pickup cartridge, stylus, or both?

There were Magnetic & Crystal cartridges you have to establish if it has the correct one and that was often on the turntable.

A lot of early cartridges had rubber in them, which will have likely failed.
