 Radio that takes a turntable

I have been buying some record players. I have a HMV Bakelite turntable which seems to need to be hooked to a radio as it is just the turntable. Can anyone give me any information about how this works and what models of radio I might need to look for. There is a number "682" on the bottom of my record player.
