An early Philips, maybe? They had inclined glass like this set.

The chassis identifies it as an S.T.C. (Standard Telephones and Cables) set made around 1956 or 1957.

It looks like it used a 17" CRT which would make it the 1956 TV171 model. If it had a 21" CRT it would be a 1957 TV211.

I've also seen sets sold under the B.G.E. (British General Electric) brand using the same S.T.C. chassis that look very similar to your pictures.

Blingbling, any chance of seeing pictures of all your TV's please? I'm trying to build up a collection of images of all the Australian TV's and need to match model numbers to images, so I'm looking for model numbers as well.

It'll be an Aussie telly. Australia was still operating a restrictive regime on imports right up until Whitlam became Prime Minister.

The STC is an Australian made TV. An replacement picture tube will take some hunting to find but one will turn up eventually.

Thanks for the TV pic's. I'll email you about them!

About black and white picture tubes, which ones are hard to find? It might help me decide which sets to save for parts.
