Does anyone know whether schematics for the EMMCO AC4 chassis from 1932 are available, and if so, where can I purchase a copy?
Valve line-up is a pair of 35's, 24, 47 & 80.

Edit: I've come across 2 references to the AC4, one stating it's a 4 valve & the other stating it's a 5 valve set.
The one listing the AC4 as having 4 valves, also lists the AC5 as the 5 valve set.
So it may be an AC5 schematic that I need, or perhaps I need both Smile

Refer to Silicon Chip August 2009 That we found out is an EMMCO AC5.

I will accept no responsibility for the accuracy of the circuit as I drew it from the chassis I had.

The wiring in that chassis had been fiddled with and the output tube had been destroyed. Speaker was not original but was from the correct manufacturer.

I have paperwork on what they look like, however your valve line up is inconsitent with the one featured in SC

The AC4 has a similar Cadmium plated chassis as the AC5 and the shocking picture I have looks like the same dial, which is a cam operated lever.

Valve line up AC 4.... Two 58; Detector 57 (Screen Grid Radio / Autodyne converter) 47 Pentode as output.

AC4 Amplion 7500 Ohm electrodynamic AC5 Amplion Electrodynamic 2500 Ohm (stamped on chassis)

Rectifiers 280

Distributor Traxon Brothers Ltd

Also inconsistent with S.6.H and DC 5 which is, I suspect, was DC as no rectifier or choke is mentioned.

Dial same as the rest.

Note these are reverse contruction to the set in the other post.

Stuart Irwin's massive list of oz radios shows the AC4 as an AC Broadcast 5 valve TRF model with 2x35,24,47 and 80.

The AC5 is an AC Broadcast console model with 6 valves being 3x35,24,47 and 80.

No refference to any circuit diagrams unfortunartely.

Cheers, Graham...

There seems to be some confussion here. The valve line up I have is consistent with a "Screen Grid Radio"
AC5 is definately a "screen Grid Radio"

I find it unusual to have a TRF & Screen Grid model with the same number.

I have a copy of the original "Traxon Brothers Qld." add and have actually physically laid my hands on an EMMCO AC5.

The units were sold as chassis & speaker, The rectifier like Lyric & others was not in the valve count.

You could choose your own cabinet from catalogue.

Characteristic is an AC plug on the back which is actually the AC input.

Chassis AC4 16" x 9" x 8 1/2"
AC5 16" x 10" x 8 1/2"

Four Valve chassis (AC4) 17pound four shillings & six pence.; Valves Four pound 16 shillings; Amplion 7500 Ohm Dynamic speaker unit Three pound 19 shillings & six pence.

I know it's nearly Christmas, but I have sent a photo of the known EMMCO AC5 chassis to Brad.
