I like others have over decades accumulated, or it has gravitated to their place. At my age and the age of some members a lot of this stuff has accumulated. As a result of dwindling membership and less interest, in antique radio, I am closing the books on the Vintage Radio Club of NE Victoria in Feb.

It is a time here, for me and others to rationalise. I will send Brad some photos of some Junked radio's in Benalla, another member has specific test equipment & I also have a pile of junked radios in various condition plus TV valves etc.

The blue valve is part of a box full of earlies from a deceased estate. There is no discernable ID, but its likely a filament triode, bayonet with a European base. Its in the (working) Paton to hold it up, for the photo.

Those radios look a bit worse for wear. Radiolas mostly; the one in the middle is unknown to me but going by the cabinet shape I'd say it's a PYE.

I'd be interested in the loose valves.

Probably just a coincidence but I had a blue envelope valve once and it was marked "Arcturus" or something close to that.

It was a 4 pin triode but had no other marking.

I would also not refurbish them, however, this as with my pile: Its all, or nothing, albeit a couple in my pile, including bulky radio-grams would likely salvage.

I have a few blue valves, they are all branded as Acturus.

To quote google:

Arcturus vacuum tubes are vintage electron tubes best known for their distinctive blue glass envelopes produced by the Arcturus Radio Tube Co. in Newark, New Jersey, during the late 1920s and 1930s.

Notable Numbers: Type 24, Type 27, PZ 47, Type 45, 2A3, 6F6G, and various globe or smoked-glass rectifiers and triodes.

One of mine is a type 551, can't remember the others offhand.

Thanks Rob, that explains what I had.
Fred.
