Saw that. I have to wonder where the revenue is in AM these days and going forward. Possibly an ego trip by Laundy.

AM radio is still the most listened-to format in the peak battleground of morning radio. 2GB commands a minimum of 15% of Sydney's audience and Sydney has the biggest audience. As per the 6PM news bulletin battle between 7 and 9, it is a high stakes game with millions of dollars on the line.

I am surprised (but glad) that the Laundys have bought the network as mass media was well outside their investment strategy until now. The second-placed runner were the owners of SEN - the mob that destroyed 2CH and created another sports station that Sydney didn't need and mostly don't listen to. Before that little transaction, 2CH was the top station in Sydney for the 39-54 year age bracket, a group that also listens to some FM or DAB+ but rarely listens to podcasts, which are mostly waffle. Bob Rogers retired shortly after SEN bought in and whilst I wouldn't consider myself elderly, I did listen to both of Bob's shows regularly. His morning show (I can't remember the name of the show now) was always played on the valve radio in my office right up to the date of his retirement. On Saturday nights Bob was there too.

I went to the same school as the Laundys. Stuart was a form ahead of me and Craig a form behind as far as I remember.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
