HRSA Sydney Group President John Pratt recently wrote:

QUOTE: You may have received notice from Melbourne regarding the new editor of the society’s Radio Waves magazine. Outgoing editor Ian Batty has done an incredible job maintaining the high standards set by editors before him, producing a magazine that is surely one of the best, if not the best among worldwide radio club magazines. Since the founding of the HRSA, this role has been filled by members of the Melbourne group, but the new editor will be our own Sydney member Stuart Corner. Although Stuart only joined the HRSA late last year, he has many years’ experience in editing and publishing.

I concur 100% with John's comments regarding the outgoing editor Ian Batty. Ian lifted an already good magazine to the next level.

And if you are serious about the hobby, and you are not already a member of the HRSA, then you really ought to join. For only $50 per annum you not only receive Radio Waves quarterly, but also are entitled to access to the HRSA's Valve Bank and Transistor Bank.

Not sure if incoming editor Stuart Comer is a member here on V-R, but if he isn't I'll make him aware of it.

Take two different browser, restart & maybe it won't lockup on post this time?

I did send Ian articles as did others. This is one way you can participate and and add to Radio Waves. Whilst writing such things is an art there are often people that can help. You should never despair if an article takes several revisions to get it right.... That's the way it is.

An example was Rodney Champness (dec) and I. We often sent articles back & forth, to proof read them, before they got sent to editors, so we could then have a go at those who liked to change things.

Albeit I edit a radio club newsletter, we both had absolute contempt for editors who, having absolutely no idea of the subject, contact you wanting to make changes.

Of course our contempt, was based on the fact, that it only takes the changing of one word, sentence, or punctuation, even the way a word was spelt, to absolutely destroy the article, turn it into nonsense and make the author look like an uneducated goose.

Then these editors are left oblivious, to why, we (& others) were not sending them articles to ruin.

Just to be clear you cannot be talking about Ian, the author a number of books on radio and electronics and many articles in Radio Waves over a period of years.

Absolutely not: I did frequently send Ian stuff re radio. There may have been questions, but when there is no one else to check it, there is no such thing as getting it right first go & what gets published could be draft four?

You will note that both Rodney and I sent stuff to various publishers. Unfortunately these people will insist on employing those pursuing woke agenda's, with no appreciation that in the time some things were made, things were done different and they don't understand that, nor, what they are looking at anyway.

You then find these large commercial magazines, over several issues, whinging about people not sending articles and them not understanding why.
