Hi guys. All are welcome to attend. Its at the south Goulburn scout hall at 10 am.
Here is a copy and paste of our latest email.

HRSA ACT - May meeting 2024 - Goulburn

Hello everyone,

Our May meeting sees our welcome return to Goulburn:

Date: Saturday 4 May 2024

Time: 10am set up and yarn, 11am auction commences.

Location: Goulburn Scout Hall, corner of Bourke & Addison Streets, Goulburn.

Detail: Bring along your good stuff to auction and anything worth taking away for the Freebie Table.

As usual pay your door fee of $5 to help us pay for the hall hire and other expenses.

In addition to the eclectic array of items expected to be presented for auction, there is a special offering at this meeting: Mick Uren is bringing many items for auction including early broadcast receivers and a selection of very early valves - some extremely rare.

A partial listing of these items is appended below.

Please don't bring any food to the meeting - the Goulburn Pipe & Drum band will be providing morning tea and BBQ lunch - let's support them!

And please take away anything you have brought for the Freebie Table which has failed to find a new owner!

Special Sale at Goulburn May 4

Mick Uren’s special interest has been in the early days of radio. People close to the Sydney & Canberra groups will be aware of the interesting gear he has gathered over 30+ years. Mick has decided to sell the balance of his collection at the Goulburn meet, with some highly unusual items on offer. The auction will alternate Mick’s gear with the usual general offering.

UNIQUE ITEMS:

Wall mount glass-fronted valve display case, approx. 75 X 50cm. Superb display of very rare & early valves, including a reputedly unused AWA Expanse B valve. An identical (empty) case available as a twin.
Large number of parts, moulds etc. for fabricating early glass-encased crystal detectors. (Opportunity here for the production of a highly sought after item).
Honeycomb coil winder, plus another coil winder in parts ready to assemble.
WIRELESS SETS: (some come with good provenance)

Crosley sets, 1923-25. The 1 valve Crosley ACE V, 2 valve Crosley 51, and 3 valve Crosley 52. Plus a Crosley Trirdyne. All with good globe 01As.
Radiolas (1924). The neat little 2 valve Radiola III, its matching BA amplifier, and the 4 valve Radiola IIIA. No valves, but the last three of Mick’s WD11 repros also up for sale. There will also be a good Radiola 16 (1925-6) on offer.
Atwater Kent radios. These include a neat little A-K 35 (the bathtub), plus a classy restored A-K tombstone from mid 30s. This one an export (240v AC) model with aeroplane dial.
Mid-20s David Jones coffin set.
VALVES & PARTS:

Too numerous to mention, but the following features:

A large collection of early triodes, working condition listed on the day. Globe 01As, 171As, early UX and UV 199s, and many early British/European triodes.
Many output valves from the 20s and 30s.
Some later 6, 7 pin and octals as well, though fewer of these.
Boxes of 1920s and early 30s knobs.
Boxes of 1920s audio frequency transformers.

GRAMOPHONES

Russell Manning will be bringing six wind up gramophones for auction. They are suitable for restoration or parts.

Actually scored a batch of 20's tubes recently. There's a Blue Arcturus & Reflex Klystron with the WD mark on it in them.

Sit inside & weep. I am just outside Wangaratta and its the best Southern Aurora I have seen for the best part of close to 60 years. It extends this far.

The lights won't be seen here. Last year the weather bureau said there was an El Nino and a drought on way. We are not only still waiting for that day but are doing it in boats. I can barely remember the colour of the sky. As an added bonus, Warragamba Dam will spill today, the sixth or seventh time that's happened since Tim Flannery said the dams would never fill again.

Do note that nothing has been done anywhere to store more water before the next drought does come, and it will one day. Our governments seem to have developed the knack for lack of foresight and planning.

Most of the modern forecasts are made based on commercial interest & the woke climate change religion's modelling: Not as reading nature as is done here.

A classic is the ignoring of the ramifications of Volcano's. These things are one of the most dangerous things on earth and their long & short term affect on climate can never be under estimated.

The under sea one tends to be the top of the pile. The one that recently almost wiped Tonga off of the map is one such volcano: Krakatoa another. This monster sent something like 50 million tons of water into the high atmosphere and that water in itself, causes global warming: As opposed to the terrestrial ones, causing global cooling.

Naturally all of that water has to come down and the logical place when it hit more atmosphere with saturated humidity, was the East Coast of Australia & was naught to do with global warming; That flooding was more to do with Volcano's doing what Volcano's do and have done for eons.
