Just received this news from the NZVRS:

“It is with some sadness that we note the passing of Peter Lankshear at the grand age of 95 years.

Peter was a BCNZ Broadcast Radio Engineer by trade and I believe consulted on BC antenna and broadcasting problems well past his retirement.

He was a great writer of radio items in the radio magazines of the day and contributed to our NZVRS Bulletins and Electronics Australia regularly.

Peter was a Foundation Member of the NZVRS and Life Member. He had entered the annual AGM competitions several times in his later years.

Peter had distributed his radio collection before moving into a Retirement facility late last year.

Always informative, calm and gentle in his ways Peter was a great mentor and will be missed.

RIP Peter.”

I was just recently looking at my copy of his book Discovering Vintage Radio

95 is a good innings. May he rest in peace.

Very sad news. It was Peter's articles in Electronics Australia that kicked off my entry into collecting and restoring radios back in the late 1980s.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
