Have a happy Australia Day. I think it may be similar to our 4th of July. A day for barbecues and drinking.

Marc, I just ignore the outrage industry and get on with what this country does do well - throw a party. I just hope I am around for the Tricentennial in 2088, but as I would be 117 at the time, the odds are somewhat against me.

Today, for me, was a hike in the Blue Mountains followed by being back at home relaxing before watching the ferry race from the Iron Lung then heading back home to relax again before lighting the barbie and cooking all manner of fare for the rest of the family. Congratulations to the Emerald-class ferry, May Gibbs for winning today's race.

Let's also spare a thought for those who's barbeques were blown away in the cyclone that hit Nth QLD yesterday. 50,000 people are still without power and water and have a bit of a mess to clean up. Let's hope the people are safe and well.
