Hi,

I purchased a very old Kriesler Silver Anniversary radio/record player for my partners xmas present. Bought from Gumtree from someone who said he only used the radio but the record player ‘worked’. Unfortunately it didn’t!

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone that may be able to fix it?

Thanks in advance Smile

Derek

Friend of mine in Albury specialises in radiograms and just LOVES Krieslers!

I'm in Albury at the moment and I'll ask him tomorrow.

What happens with the turntables is the lubricants turn into cement and everything siezes up. But can usually be fixed.

My email is not hidden.

I have a pet hate for some turntables the one on a HMV R34 is a mechanical abomination. There are some BSR ones that have a grease that welds the platter to its spindle.

Agree it really does not matter what it is in, those old grease soaps solidified and mixing brands & types often catalysed the solidification. Every trace of the grease has to go. Whilst likely obsolete Philips used Shell Alvania II in some of their stuff. Many of the modern types are not meant to solidify. Currently I am using Inox MX6 which is food grade.

There is a service sheet for one buried in the paperwork here.

Derek I spoke to Pete about your Kriesler.

I could probably attend to it this week (i,e, 1st Jan) if you want to drop it in.
I am in Belrose.

Otherwise, happy to help you over the phone if you think you have the skills.
