Anyone know anything about the gear used on the Sydney-Melb. Coaxial Cable?

It was commissioned in the early 60s. Repeater gear came from Germany.

Telecom staff laid the cable.

I believe it's now long decommissioned. I wonder if the repeater gear is still in those concrete block-houses?

I'm interested in what it consisted of and how the TV signals were sent - assuming some sort of modulation on a carrier.

Anyone know??

The PMG (as it was at that time) produced a monthly magazine called 'Telecommunications Journal'. I recall that there was an article about the cable system. Give me a while and I will find it.
