Just looking for a recommendation. I usually use pipe cleaners to clean valve sockets with a fair bit of inox or CRC. Does any of you know of any small wire brushes that could do the job.
The valve sockets and contacts on the Monarch were so filthy ( tarnished ) that it took at least 4 scrubs of each socket to actually get the valves to light up. Yes I tightened the sockets.
It was so bad that I thought the transformer was having issues. I checked continuity to the filements and it really puzzled me.
The tone control is very solid but still is barely working . I know it will come good as I have noticed some improvement with time.

Some miniature tubes have Silver on them & its not particularly good news if they are seriously grotty here, they may end up spending a few minutes swimming in Hydrochloric or Phosphoric Acid. That Silver can get onto the surface of the socket & track.

A lot of the abrasive in toothpaste & car polish is Sodium Bi Carbonate. For some sockets I use the Oxy welding tip files.

Well I used Silvo for many many years when I was a full-time service tech. We used to maintain history cards in the TVs so I knew very well what worked and the Silvo gave as close as was possible to a permanent repair in those days..

After the polish I'd flush any residue out with an alcohol squirt bottle, then wipe (not spray) the contacts with CRC.

Re silver migration on valve bases, yes I saw that, mainly on early Mullard B9As and mainly 6M5s.I could have probably used silvo to clean the silver from between the pins, but I never did that, a new bottle always went in rather than risk a call-back.
