No , I do not work there any more, but decided to pop into the warehouse at 320 Victoria Road Rydalmere just for a nostalgic look.
Actually the kids drove me there I'm not good at driving in traffic any more.
Jaycar are having a weekend "shutting down every thing must go tough luck if its broke you buy it you own it" bonanza sale.
Well what a riot!
Usually on week days as most of the staff have transferred to the new warehouse the car parks are empty.
Pulled in about 11'ish and hundreds of cars filled the front and side parks.
There were guys and gals pushing trolleys, carts, sleds, chokka block out with goodies.
Staff had multiple sales points set up in the midst of the sale, most boxes were marked $5 or $10.
No arguing, it was just 3 boxes, thats $30, ching, NEXT!
There was simply the contents of the warehouse that they dont want to transfer over, odd parts, discontinued lines, returns and dead stock.
If you knew what to look for there was brand new catelouge stuff out of boxes, but good.
I zeroed on the digital CROs and grabbed a bunch of dead returns.
I know that 1 out of 10 returns actually works and 1 out of 10 are first time start up failures, usually a dislodged pcb or blown fuse.
Yes, that was one of my jobs, repairing and reporting failure rates and causes.
If I cant make a good CRO out of that bunch I'll give it away.
Each CRO was $10 so at worst, if I have "8 out 10" duds only, I have good probes and leads for $10 a go and the CRO goes in the bin!
Kids grabbed unboxed and new boxed deleted lines of amps , cameras and audio gear.
Saw big invertors marked at $10 your risk.
There were chairs and tables, promo material, anything not bolted down.
Still on tomorrow so be there or be square!!!!
Fred.

On Thursday arvo I screamed down there and bought a Doggies Monopoly game and a 45 litre camping fridge. The box the fridge came in was smashed beyond repair but a quick feel inside revealed that the packing material was thick enough for the fridge to survive so I had a good afternoon. Board game: $10.00. Fridge: $180.00 (not a misprint).
The fridge is still humming away in the back of my car so I don't think the knock did anything to it.
I went back yesterday arvo to see what was left and about 60% of the distress stock was gone. On Thursday, I couldn't help notice that some shoppers had more than one fridge on their trolley, along with a myriad of other items. On my way to the checkout with a $10 security camera I heard one of the staff telling a customer that by COB on Saturday, all the stock is likely to be gone. I don't doubt it and anyone wanting a camping fridge had better get down there this morning. Whilst Waeco (Dometic) and Engel pretty much lead the camp fridge market, what I got for the price I got it at cannot be beaten. I own two Waecos and am prepared to take the punt on this occasion. There are a range of sizes and configurations - EG: some can be either a fridge or a freezer, depending on the temperature, whilst others are dual-control, letting one compartment be a fridge and the other a freezer at the same time. My fridge has this feature.

I was there on Saturday morning. They still had plenty of Doggy Monopoly. How much for a box (of 6) I asked. They are $10 each was my answer, make an offer. I said how about $10 for the entire box... which was accepted. No doubt they would have been cheaper, like everything else, towards the end of the day.
I got a bag of PCB terminal blocks, some panel meters, a few other components, 4 Mean Well power supplies, and a box of unpopulated PCBs for the pricely sum of $10. Came away very happy, $20 well spent!
