Hi VR&A Members,

I go by the name of Past Colours and have had an old freestanding "Hygrade Productions" Battery operated valve radio for the last number of years: I've finally dragged it out and am setting about the process of restoring it.

The Wireless appears to be something manufactured anytime between the 1930's to the 1950's. It has two rectangular box eveready batteries ( one has 1/2/1956 written on it's base in pencil, so that appears to be the last battery purchased for it.

The round dial face has a map of the world on it with the word Airplayer above it. 6 Australian states are represented on the Dial with the usual Radio stations.

I'd really like to bring it up to show room condition: The cloth is all but gone from deterioration (fried and tattered) and the Light blue label on the back has the bottom part with the Serial number and Prefix letter missing: i.e. everything above the serial number is intact.: I'd love to post some photos of the radio and parts.

I can't fins any reference to the manufacturers sticker on the rear anywhere online. The stickers is not entirely intact, the Word "Hygrade" appears as Hygrad the top part of the d stick is torn off and the letter e on the end is missing, the sticker is torn diagonally, the word productions is underneath the word Hygrade.

The speaker is a "Rola" however the actual paper part is deteriorated around the edges so it is hardly attached to the metal surround.

I trust I have drawn a decent mental image for you and would appreciate any response.

Kindest Regards
Past Colours.

Hi, welcome to steam radio.
If you could submit some photos (email to Brad) of the case, dial and chassis would be a great help. There are some Airplayer radios mentioned in Radiomuseum so we should be able to come up with something.
