Simple answer: the bloke is a salesman. He could sell oil to the Arabs and reading glasses to the blind.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

That is great!
It sounded straight off that "buzzword" generator sheet we had in the old computing days, I think it was the Honeywell Generator?

I almost believed the guy until he got to the bit about the 7th wire damping out the gurgulator wobbling, we all know its the 5th wire!!!!!
Fool.

Fred.

This reminded me of a previous life involved in radar in the 1950's.

Up/down and left/right position was determined by spinning the antenna and development was under way on an "Interossiter" to provide front /back position. If I recall correctly, it used tandem troscillating ossodes, however I never saw a finished product.

It was about the same time that a merger was proposed to build them, between Fairchild Instruments and Honeywell. The new company was to be called "Farewell, Honey Child".

Harold

Reminiscent of the Astor radio on ebay with the tone control marked Acoustinator.

Accoustinator ... very pretentious name for a tone control.

Imagining a salesman pointing out this 'unique' feature to her indoors.

Unfortunately I had to sit through far too many similar American military training films covering whatever piece of second hand/reconditioned/excess equipment the Australian Army had been conned into buying cheap. The instructor in the film was always in a neat uniform but obviously an actor because he could never actually operate or correctly handle what ever bit of kit he was spruiking. I am sure that I have seen that bloke in a film about some weapon we were going to fire if we ever got any ammunition (which was always a very expensive extra). The last couple of minutes in most films showed the 'Stars and Strips' waving in the background as triumphant US personnel raced into the distance accompanied by suitably patriotic music. No offence meant to readers from the US but it was so 'John Wayne Green Berets' it always got a laugh from the Aussie diggers.

Was once inside iconic AB bldg, was demo-ing video post-production equip; their corporate AV dept was near the top floor, above that - level 8? - was vacant, except for a mock-up experimental automated electric motor assembly line, a big deal for the mid 80s? Can see why Rockwell would have considered that Co. a 'good fit' for acquisition.

I've seen that one before but I still get a belly laugh from it. Sadly I'm sure there are people out there who think it's legitimate.

I knew a guy who worked at Allen Bradley [AB], he had a corporate pension from there, he was Polish, that's why they call the large AB clock 'the Polish Moon'. He said they used to have their own orchestra & chorale! How's that for German/Polish culture!
