Hopefully Brad got the photo?

Fascinating: Many do not check, nor realise, that you can get a dry joint in valve pin. Never in over 50 years have I until this week, got one with every pin dry jointed. This was in a Monkeyed with, 1938 Airzone 609.

I noted when removing the shield that the envelope was loose. In this situation the skirt holding the shield is hafway up the valves base. Pulling that sort of valve out by the envelope is a no no! So in walking it out using the heater pins and another (sideways); I suddenly found that the envelope alone was in the hand meant to catch the whole valve.

I held the base up to the strong light & there were six holes: Therefore not a corrosive break.
