Hi there,
Can anyone recommend a supplier for capacitors.
Especially high voltage for valve circuits.
Cheers
Scott

Tallar Carl used to sell those. Maybe he still does. There was another bloke called Steve, but I haven't seen him around for a while.

I assume by Steve, you are talking about Steve Savell. He’s still around, just bought some valves from him actually.

Remember, don't change the plastic ones. Only the wax paper caps.

Yes Ian, it’s more the electrolytic capacitors I’m looking for

WES components always have had a decent range of caps

Beware of some plastic jacketed caps, they are paper; Some do have polyester stamped on them.

Steve is still out there I have bought stuff off him. Things are slow at the moment.

One replaces every electrolytic.

Watch the voltage ratings. I will not use less than 500V on a set "B" with diodes and rectifiers like #80 / 5Y3 and heater tubes only and for resistors under 1Watt as their voltage ratings are inferior; It also helps to keep the inventory down.

Thanks Marc and guys,
I’ve got an account with WES but their electrolytic caps are a little expensive. I need to the usual 8, 16, 24, 47μF all at 600v
Most of the ones I can find are lower voltage and not axel types

Axials are gettable from two sources mentioned. I will not use 450 V ones as they have proven unreliable. However do not discount RB type as these on cathode bypass can be mounted on the socket. Leave their leads a bit long and it standing up. When in the set they hang down & heat rises.
