've been on a bit of trip this weekend. Up to Mt Buffalo and during the trip I went exploring all the little Towns.. Myrtleford. Yackandandah and over to Bright again ,.  They are  So beautiful those towns they remind of when I was in Europe years ago,, Looks just like Europe...But every time I go to the Mountains or over to Lake Hume I see people stomping around the place with Metal Detectors !!  Tons of them !  Apparently there is a Craze going on and there has been some big finds in Victoria and WA in the past year ,, Plus about a month ago 2 Machine Guns were found with a metal detector down by the lake ..Even more, surprising to me was that the Company that makes the Detectors is a Multi-Million Dollar Business with souring profits coming in for Africa, Asia Australia with the sale of those Detectors >>  Money gets made in odd places that's for sure!  I never would have thought that Minelab would of been booming business. Years ago I did have a go with of those detectors for fun up at Hill End , I found an Axe head and old Rabbit Trap ! ... All good Fun though !

Where there's gold there's usually Deliverance types defending their claims with illegal guns and other weapons. I hope you aren't deaf, Pete, because you need to be on the listen out for banjo music. I know Hill End quite well and have been camping there since I was eight. It's changed a lot over the years and to be honest I miss heading back home on the Bridle Track. It's been closed for abut ten years now due to a landslide.

I should try and find the photo I took of one of my radios on a table outside Beyer's Cottage.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
