Just got back from shopping. Saw a guy there, mid 30s, behind a take away food counter sniffling and blowing his nose. I buy stuff there occasionally, but not lately, and know him to talk to.
I said "Matey, that's a worry, working with food and having a runny nose." He replied "I think it's just some sort of hay fever."
I said "Seriously, to be safe go and get tested for the virus. You are dealing with the public all day long and you are selling prepared food."
He replied "I don't have the symptoms. I can still smell, etc." His eyes were becoming watery.
Me: "We are in one of the virus hot spot council regions. You can get tested immediately at the local hospital."
Him: "Really? I thought hospitals were overburdened at the moment."
Me: "Read the news. The NSW government wants anyone around here to go and get tested if they are not well."
My guess is that he'll just shrug it off and carry on. Meanwhile, I won't be going near that food shop for a long time to come.

Yep, I do eat at home. Apart from public transport and the doctor's waiting room, probably the next best way to catch what's going around is take away food. You have to wonder what goes on in the out of sight preparation areas.
The guy in question is in one of the age groups that seems to think COVID-19 is nothing more than a cold for them. He seemed genuinely surprised when I told him that it's a flagged hot spot around here. His idea of keeping up with the news is probably scrolling through photos on Instagram.

I think it's about time we took every opportunity to call out such behaviour.
I did this once back in the days when people could still smoke on planes.
I was sitting in the non-smoking section and getting pissed off by the amount of smoke drifting back from the addicts, when this guy in the NON-SMOKING section lit up!
So I got up and confronted him:
"YOU may not care about YOUR health but I care about MINE! PUT THE BLOODY THING OUT!!!"
I'm not by any means an aggressive person but I was very angry and I must have looked scary judging by his reaction, he hurriedly stubbed out his cancer stick and shrivelled up in his seat!
AND the other passengers backed me up!

Pete as you know I used to smoke but gave it up in my 20s. After 6 months I felt SO much better I like to try to spread the word!
Next to gambling it is the hardest addiction to break. Worse than heroin and on a par with ICE.
But quitting is SO worth the pain and suffering!
