I had a great old Nokia for years, but come 3G it was no longer supported by Telstra, who kept sending me increasingly hysterical messages that my phone will be cut off by a particular date. I ignored them and eventually Telstra dropped a "free smart phone" at my door. It was some el cheapo garbage that drove me nuts trying to use so I ended up binning and bought a "dumb" phone that handled 3G. All I need on a phone is voice and text, and a reasonable camera.

Just recently they mailed me that they are giving me unlimited internet phone quota at a substantial hike in monthly rate. As I don't use any such quota I'm about to tell them to take a flying leap.

.Robbbert: There are so-called 'minimalist' (i.e. non-smart) phones for 4G. Some have large keypads, too, which I like. Come 5G will there be such phones? Dunno.

Hey Robert!

Nokia has rereleased their 3310 and only costs $90 if you want a cheap phone that’s of decent quality and uses 3G
Here’s the link to their website:

https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_au/nokia-3310-3g

I’ve seen them for sale in job hi-fi and would probably be one of the better choices.
