Sorry ... not valve related .... lots of these around apparently ..... out of the Defence Department.
Does anyone on this Site have/use a Rohde and Schwarz SMS Signal Generator???? Or parts thereof???
My email address is open.

More info as to what parts and a little more detail may be beneficial.

Hi Marcc,
I was a little hesitant putting up that Post as it isn't valve or radio related .... except that the R&S SMS would be my 'go to' Signal Generator for troubleshooting my valve radios etc.. ... and in light of the For Sale / Wanted Forum being suspended.
Defence Department sold a lot of these out of Capital cities in large amounts ... so I am hoping some of our Members may have them ...
My R&S SMS no longer works ... PSU is okay ... initial troubleshooting indicates multiple problems. At the moment, my troubleshooting has ground to a halt due to not having an Extender Board to troubleshoot individual circuit boards whilst in-circuit. I can track a particular problem only so far before it disappears into parts of the circuit boards that I cannot get to, at the moment. I am awaiting parts from overseas from which I am hoping to construct an Extender board.
So in the meanwhile, I was exploring whether any Members have these Signal Generators? If I could find one 'locally' that has been junked, or inoperative, no longer required, or parts thereof, then I maybe interested in acquiring it so as to swap in/out circuit boards, chips as I troubleshoot .... I can specify some boards, chips if necessary.
This is a 'learning' project for me .... it is completely different to my other troubleshooting experiences ... it is full of oscillators, phase locked loops, dividers, digital magic .... chips everywhere ... so identifying individual component problems may be very difficult .... identifying a problem at circuit board level, then changing the board, maybe the best I will be able to do .... hence my interest in acquiring R&S SMS parts.

Ian

Ian, this thread is in order, even if not valve related. ![Smile](smiley/smile.gif)

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
