Ive got the set fully working now ! Without schematics .
I replaced the cap in the repaired alot of dry joints , resoldered a few wires that had been disconnected , traced out a couple of sections of the Audio Output stage & P/S filter - replaced two caps , cleaned the chassis - through in a fuse ..run it up on 110v for 10 -15mins , then fired it up on 230v . Switch on - Contact ! - We have a working chassis . This has been very rewarding . Its working great - on SW & MW . Shame nobody has replaied to any of these threads . Ive only replaced what Ive had to - I'm not going to replace Caps & resistors just for the sake of it . Ive replaced the AF /Output Coupling cap , P/S filter cap , & Tone ctrl cap . Cleaned the tube contacts & cleaned the tuning gang & Vernier Drive . Dial lamps all light up ( thank heavens - 6.3v lamps are not common here ) . Wet Capacitor has been disconnected , but will remain for authentic look . Powercable & inline fuse still to fit . ( i'll tuck the rewireble fuse holder inside the chassis on the underside ..so it wont bee seen . Original 2 core mains plastic trurip lead will be replaced by 3 core TRS cloth woven sheath flex . Magic eye is the only tube that doesnt light up - I have tested this on another set - sadly it has failed . All knobs are present - just need to make . source suitable dial glass / plastic sheild . Tricky - its a curved shape like a lens .

Hi Stu,
You are correct,Philips used the term Radioplayer in the '30s.I
have the P636 circuit here but not the P626.These sets were
Philips versions of Columbus (Radio Corp) models. It seems Philips
were unable to import at this time and went to Radio Corp to fill
a gap.?

Now I know ! - subject closed by me ! Thanks for ...hummmm ......
