While cleaning the basement, finding stuff from many years ago (mostly old kitchen stuff) found a plastic tray for use in the microwave. Nothing special, though I did notice "made in Australia" on its bottom. Can't remember seeing anything from Australia other than lamb chops from Australia sold in the USA. I do have a few Aussie tube radios I bought via ebay. Well, those don't count, as they were intended for the Aussie market. Smile

It might be made by a company called Décor - pretty much our answer to Tupperware. Most of their stuff is still made here, amazing but true. Willow is another brand - they make everything from plastic cups to rubbish bins and eskies (drink coolers).

Aussie things you might find in the supermarket, aside from meat, are eucalyptus lollies and Vegemite.

I found its wrapper. "Microwise" was the brand, made in Australia by "Microwise Trading P/L Australia". Sold for 2 for $1 at ShopRite, a supermarket chain around New York City.

Scans and image emailed to Brad.

Very 'crafty' of Kraft to own Vegemite, but Australian-owned OzeMite said to be superior.
Crafty euro food giants NESTLE & UNILEVER have acquired most world food brands...
However, ironically, Swiss govt has a law to prevent foreign takeover of NESTLE!
US govt intervenes on a case-by-case basis to halt undesirable takeovers: such as recent BROADCOM>>QUALCOMM

Not any more. Over the last few years Kraft has divested most of its former interests and was taken over by another mob anyway. Vegemite is owned by Australia's own Bega Cheese Co. now.

Ozemite is yuk. But taste is like anything - a personal choice. Some people still amazingly eat Marmite.

WA2ISE: Picture will go up tonight. Wink

The write-up for Ozemite sounded so promising...but I had my doubts when they mentioned a "special yeast" made from "Corn/Maize"?Sad

Australia's done a few blockades of takeovers of late. The most recent is probably the block on the Chinese Government's bid for the world's largest farm, Anna Creek Station in South Australia. About 15 years ago Royal Dutch Shell was stopped from buying out Woodside Petroleum. There should be more of it, I reckon. Australia's a big country but with a very small population. We can ill afford to flog the family silver as is often done.

Dick Smith very effectively pilloried Kraft as a foreign predator. Looks like it finally paid off. I love it!
