Hi,

I have "inherited" a radio recently and although I know bugger all about fixing them, would love to restore it.

For all the research I've done, all I can find is a picture at http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/pictoria/a/1/8/doc/a18152.shtml which mine looks the same as.

Are there many getting around? Are they hard to fix? I haven't even attempted to pull it apart.

Any info I can get on it would be fantastic.

Regards,
Adam

I have two consoles that look almost exactly the same but both are no-namers. To be honest I have looked all over the chassis' of both and there's no sign of who made them. Quite often department stores like Grace Bros and Mark Foys would ask large radio manufacturers to make unbranded sets for them in the same way Woolworths bulk buys groceries and puts the Home Brand label on them.

I would suggest that these are just as easy to fix as any other receiver however obtaining an accurate circuit diagram won't be easy. All I know about these sets is that they were made during the early 1940s.

As far as consoles go they were fairly popular with that massive dial glass and various visual differences existed on the cabinets.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
