On Sunday, 28th January, I will be carrying out some work on the new site. There may be brief moments where the new site fails to load but there will be no lengthy downtimes. Disruptions will be kept to a minimum and the work will involve preparations for the new membership area.

The forums will not be affected by this work.

I will add that two forum features that were disabled last year during diagnosis work have been re-enabled today. They are support for the Gravatar service and a JavaScript that prevents the 'Post' button on the forums being pressed more than once, leading to some of the duplicate postings that have been seen recently.

These were simply forgotten about when the forums were restored before Christmas and I apologise for their late return.

Whatever you did a couple of days ago, the site seems to be much faster and more stable. No crashes in the last 2 days that I've seen...

In contrast, I've had a ton of lockups ending in 500 error messages in the last 2 or 3 days.

Yes lock ups for the last few days and unable to get to individual forums. Sometimes closing chrome and trying again fixes it but not always.
