Well I just came back from the Philippines and feel totally refreshed. I have a growing list of radios to restore. How do any of you pick which one is next ? and how do you stop adding to the list ? LOL.

Some of the radios I have are unrestored, and will probably stay that way while I have them.
Reason being, some are very important to me(sentimental), in pristine original condition, but cleaned etc.
To restore these To a safe, working condition would require many non original parts to be used.
And original parts to be removed. They just would not be the same anymore.
About 40 years ago I tossed many radios including AWA Empires etc.
Now if I had one of those I would probably just clean and display rather than restore.
However other radios I have come across recently have had the full work over.

I stopped adding to the list by taking no serious money with me to the HRSA auctions. Also, I only collected radios that my, and my extended, family had when I was growing up. That's complete now except for a console radiogram that I don't have room for even if I could find it.

However, I do have quite a bit of vintage test gear and other valve equipment that needs restoration. I get around to those items when the spirit moves me, as my old grandma used to say.

I wish I had that willpower. Tongue

I stopped buying radios. Almost 200 is far too many.

"-------when the spirit moves me,---"

What a superb expression GTC

With your permission I will adopt that as my own.

I don't own that saying. I think you'll find that it goes back centuries.

GTC,

Sometimes I wonder if I am really interested in radios ....... or just like ‘playing with / fixing’ old test gear .....😁. I’d like to know what vintage test gear you have??

GTC,

I've never heard that saying before.

Great saying, just the same.

Thanks for sharing Tallar,

That is one splendid looking receiver.

And thanks also to G&M for keeping it in such great shape.

Pete we spent most of our Time in Las Pinas City. My wife came from there. We visited Tagaytay which is a very nice spot. If I won the lotto I would settle down there I think.

Yes I know both these places, you don't need to win lotto,
I looked at great houses for the cost of building a garage in Sydney!!
My wife's family are the warmest people I know.
My wife is a Electrical Engineer, but I met her here through some stories I wrote about children and also travel.. Just for fun I use to write stories.
The community in Phil when you live there is simply wonderful
I was only 21 when I first went there.
Pete
