A "wall wart digital clock". Okay... Smile Use it in the kitchen in an outlet just above the countertop. Or in your workbench, when you want to know the time. As you can easily guess, it was a generic digital alarm clock that I relocated the display on, and used a plug salvaged from a cell phone charger on its new back.

With the demise of manufacturing in US & Aust, there are many talented Electronic-Engineers like you out there. I wonder how the educational institutions are adapting to this?

We tend to design stuff here and have it made in China or Korea (or Mexico)

With robotics though, local electronics manufacture is holding its own here in Oz, especially for smaller volumes that need greater production flexibility. My company still makes programmable control systems here. Contract assembly is done in Caringbah.

Moore's Law: It can be a source of excitement or nemesis for engineering.
