I recently obtained a 1933 AWA Radiolette 24. I researched this model online and found an original 1933 newspaper advertisement on Trove. The advertisement read the AWA Radiolette 24 contains a chassis "heavily electroplated in Cadmium to prevent corrosion". As Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal are there any extra precautions required, i.e gloves or a respirator when handling, cleaning, or restoring a cadmium plated chassis? The chassis in my Radiolette is in excellent condition with minimal corrosion and would only require a clean to clear 80 years of dust.

Inhalation is to be avoided (if you smoke, you already inhale cadmium on a regular basis). As long as you don't file it, or grind it, or lick it, you should be fine, but wash your hands after handling it.

Here are some notes on it:

Re hazard substances, did you know that the same guy - Thomas Midgely - invented both lead in petrol and chlorinated flurocarbons (CFCs) ?
