I think I have finally found myself a very rare little radio. I bought this one from Ebay as a cheap fixer upper and after a recap it was still dead, removing valves one by one I soon found a 1R5 with an open filament so popped in a goodie and the radio burst into song! Looking for a schematic and information in all of the usual places, Google, Radio Museum and Kevin Chant, I found countless models and pictures but nothing about this little baby! It is a battery radio with a mains cord which can be coiled up inside. Also there is a built in external antenna, a roughly ten inch long by one inch square white thingy with a suction cup at each end with instructions in the rear of the radio detailing how to attach it to a car window. It is attached to the radio with old school TV style flat white antenna cord. It works like a charm with a nice sound.

How does it compare to the 500H? Schematic may be same/similar?

Similar by the looks but mine has a leather case and metal front with 3 white knobs along the top of the front. I have emailed photos through, just awaiting them to be uploaded.

As I've mentioned elsewhere the 1R5 is a very unreliable valve, with filament failures being rampant.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Nice-looking radio.
