Hi there, I am after some information on an item I have and I was pointed in this direction, there is a plaque inside the cabinet that reads A.W.A Radiola with instrument number -C58/3938, also has a plaque with Duoforte under the top lid. Basically want to know weather what I have is worth something or worthless as I may be looking to sell, it is in fairly good condition, I have not tested yet but I am told it is working order, it was passed down by my father in law.

If anyone can give me any info on how old roughly, common/uncommon, and roughly what sort of money it may be worth it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mick.

Hi Mick this is a rare cabinet I have one as well but unfortunately like yours the chassis has been replaced with a more modern chassis. Ive been waiting for 6yrs to find the original but very hard to get. They cut out the front panel to mount the new chassis.

Ah ok, when you say they cut out the front panel to fit the newer chassis do you mean the front panel that is behind the 2 doors?

The tuning dial. It is a 1940s one. The original tuning dial would have been a keystone one.

This is still a very nice unit but because its so far away from original it wouldn't be worth very much at all. If any one had a chassis for a duoforte then it would be a godsend. Please do not junk this.

Here is Radiomuseum picture of this radio.

If this is yours then it is greatly modified, and the value would be in the knob escutcheons, and the replacement chassis.

I would like to say that the whole Cabinet is worth keeping because looking at it I believe it can be returned back to original pretty well. It is in quite good condition. I suggest you get in contact with the Sydney Branch of the HRSA ( Historical radio society of Australia ) or the Canberra Branch . If you google the HRSA you will find the email addresses for the Guys in Charge but don't accept a pittance it is still worth something.

Anyone want to buy it? I understand it has some non original equipment in it but is still seemingly a rare piece and worth something, I am open to reasonable offers as it is just taking up space, thanks
